Tennis Jeannie Box Leagues starting soon!

In February our juniors are about to start lots of internal club match play!

Box leagues are a great way to play social yet competitive tennis against players of a similar age and standard.

The advantage to the leagues is you can arrange your matches at times that suit you. The matches / correspondence will be operated through Tennis Jeannie which is a very cleaver website that does everything from showing your availability, arranging matches then displaying the result once completed.

Match results are going to be posted on our competition tab where there will be a results widget. So get involved a track your progress!

Resurfacing complete

After months of waiting, the tennis courts at The Mountbatten School have now been resurfaced!

The new surface has already been put to test in the recent wet weather and it passed with flying colours!

Thanks to the clever robot and Mr Norton who took the areal shot!

3 Grass Pitch almost complete

After a delayed start earlier in the spring, The Mountbatten School's 3 grass, multi sports pitch is almost compete.

This 'state of the art' pitch will be used all year round for football & hockey clubs across, Romsey, Southampton, Totton & Eling, Winchester and local surrounding areas.

In the next 2-3 weeks the focus will be to the 6 tennis & netball courts of the school to be resurfaced with plans for completion at the start of November. This will be very welcome to us in time for the winter months where a new surface will help sessions to run despite in winter conditions.

Absolute Tennis works very closely The Mountbatten Community Department where we hire the courts from the school and run courses for all the family.

Happy Birthday Oscar Groves!

Happy Birthday to Oscar Groves who turned 11 years old last Wednesday!

Oscar's parents decided to throw Oscar a tennis party at The Hilt in Hiltingbury, near Chandlers Ford. Many of Oscar's friends from school attended the party where we played various competitions including a doubles tournament.

The weather could not of been better which only added to the occasion. The boys played their hearts out and where rewarded with a tube of new tennis balls each at the end for their efforts.

Absolute Tennis is able to offer tennis parties across Hampshire including, Winchester, Southampton, Romsey and Basingstoke. Just call Martin Terrill on 07801 056905

Thanks to Josh Gook & Alec Younger

Last week was the concluding week of this year's summer camp program by Absolute Tennis.

Thanks to all the kids and parents for their involvement over the week. We hope the kids had a blast and there is no question that they all improved their tennis skills.

A special thanks goes to Josh Gook & Alec Younger for there coaching expertise. Alec Younger (tennis assistant) gave his time up voluntary to gain experience in sports coaching. Thanks to Josh who visited us from his full time position at Virgin Active, Southampton where one day he decided to cycle to coaching in Romsey in the driving rain!

Below is a picture of Josh Gook (on the left) & Alec Younger (on the right) along with all the children who enjoyed playing tennis and multi sports in the sun!

Summer Camp Success!

This week Fraser and Martin coached children at Romsey Community School in this weeks summer tennis & multi sport camp. They were extremely lucky to have another week of dry weather and even some sun from time to time. Children visited the camp from Andover and Salisbury along with a few regulars from Braishfield which is a local village located just outside of Romsey.

Attendance was moderate this week which offered a great opportunity for the coaches to give each child more attention to their game. Each day the kids started their training by working on their fitness, followed by drills for stroke development, rallying competitions then match practice. On the last day the kids played a table tennis tournament for a bit of fun to conclude a great week.

The last week of summer camps starts on Tuesday next week (26th August) at Romsey Community School where Josh Gook from Virgin Active, Southampton will be joining the Absolute Tennis Team. Absolute Tennis will also be at De Vere Venues, New Place in the afternoons so let Martin Terrill know if you want your child to take up a place.

Game set and match at The Gratton, Sutton Scotney!

This week around 10 children per day have visited us at The Gratton Tennis Courts in Sutton Scotney.

Once again we have been blessed with amazing weather for the children to enjoy their sessions.

The progressed gained by the players has been pleasing with a few wishing to continue their progress at our main centre at The Mountbatten School in Romsey.

We would like to thank all the parents for bringing their kids along with our sponsors The Imperial Car Supermarket & Wilds Sports for making these sessions possible.

Our aim is to be back offering more sessions over the Easter & summer breaks in 2015, see you then!

First Absolute Tennis summer camp of the holidays was a huge success!

The sun shined all week for our first holiday camp of the summer at The Romsey Community School.

Each day was finely attended by children aged between 4-13 years old. The children improved their skills over the week and participated in Ultimate Frisbee and Kwik Cricket each day to warm down before going home. I think it is safe to say the children enjoyed the team games such as Mad Lives and Wave the most so we will be playing these games again over the next few weeks.

We are running more camps over the holidays in Romsey with sessions at Sutton Scotney, Winchester next week so let us know if you wish for your child to attend!
