General Questions
Coaches are licenced by the LTA, who are they?
The Lawn Tennis Association is the governing body of British Tennis. The LTA’s license scheme offers support to ensure coaches continue to invest in their education and carrier development. The customer also benefits, as they know their Absolute Tennis Coach will follow safeguarding measures, including first aid training; compliance with DBS and supplying references.
What is the DBS (was CRB)?
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
Is there a joining fee?
All players who join Absolute Tennis pay a one-off joining fee of £25 per player. Included in the joining fee is an Absolute Tennis T-shirt. You also get a FREE membership with British Tennis and are eligible for Wimbledon Tickets in our annual draw. The joining fee contributes towards Absolute Tennis’s professional registration and general club overheads.
How do I pay for a tennis course?
What happens if it's raining?
As we are lucky enough to have indoor space at The Mountbatten School, cancellations due to the weather are rare. However if a session has to be cancelled due to the weather or the coach being unavailable, customers are offered 2 alternative classes as a substitute lesson for that week. If Absolute Tennis is unable to offer at least 2 alternative groups then a credit note is issued which can come off your next course. No credits can be issued if you choose or are forced to miss a session through the customer’s personal circumstances.
What if I need to cancel?
If you make payment for a course but decide before the start date that you don’t want to participate, a full refund is issued (however this doesn’t include any transaction fees you may have paid).
Once a participant has attended one session then no refund can be issued.
How long are the tennis courses?
Our courses typically run between 5-8 weeks long, falling in line with the length of the current school half term. We offer around 35 classes a week where players are positioned in a class with others of a similar standard and/or experience. In each class, we often cover a technical and tactical part of the game along with playing games & matches.
What should my child bring to a tennis session?
- Tennis racket (we have spares if you don’t own one)
- Trainers that support their feet
- Hat/sun cream if it’s hot (wishful thinking)!
- 1 snack & drink
